In the first issue of Cryptid Trip, Katie and Joe road trip to the International Cryptozoology Conference to dig deep into maybe-mythological creatures from near and far. Appearances from Bigfoot, Mothman, the Mongolian Death Worm, a lot of big cats, and even the little-known Pig Man.
This zine is a lot of fun, and a fascinating dig into the universality of local myths and the mysteries of nature. It's a joy how Katie digs into the various speakers and ideas at the conference. As she writes toward the end of the zine, "it's the sense of unknowing that I find exciting, scary, and moving. After all, when you consider the variety and enormity of the natural world—and your own smallness within it—monsters aren't all that hard to believe in."
