I love how Behind the Zines keeps getting better with each issue, collecting so many histories from zine, small press, and DIY communities but never taking itself too seriously. It's the perfect industry journal for the zine community: entirely casual while also being the sole source for so much zine-related information.
This issue's most impressive deep-dive is Jason Luther's look into the '90s famed zine-review publication, Factsheet Five. There's a fun spread on zine pseudonyms, Stacey Piotrowski's librarian-perspective on zine cataloging, Todd Taylor of Razorcake writes a beautiful series of punk-scene obituaries, and there's a moving tribute to the recently passed Bay Area zinester and organizer Jen Angel.
Plus: how to start a local zine club, prison penpal zines, and reports from different zine fests and scenes.
