Freaky Portland art zine of the highest caliber, Little Obsessions packs a whole big experience into its small frame. Weird collages, paintings, "maniac stripper-songwriter" Sandy Kane singing naked, and an interview with painter David Inkpen about old Portland, bird conversations, driving a cab, and painting knives in the backyard.
The zine's goal might be something along the lines of what editor Mara Appel Des Lauriers writes in her endlessly cool and wild introduction: "It's about wanting the REAL DEAL, and unconsciously making moves towards it in defiance of the intoxicating mythology you used to love and happily sacrifice yourself to. It's having a hunch about a world that exists outside your current one."
