Music

Two sides of textural ambient synthscapes from some masters of minimalism. Sabriel's Orb is the latest project from Willow Skye-Biggs (Stag Hare, ariel) and John Atkinson is a film composer, formerly of the Brooklyn hypnogogic-pop group Aa.

Released on Whited Sepulchre Records. Listen to Sabriel Orb's side here and John Atkinson's side here.

On their latest EP, Reighnbeau producer Bryce Hample teams up with collaborators Colleen Johnson (Flying Circles, Silver Shadows) and Madeline Johnston (Midwife, Sister Grotto) to create an album that skirts the edges of IDM, dream pop, and electro-folk. Six off-kilter love songs—sparkling pieces of art-pop music for voice, electronics, acoustic guitar, and autoharp.

Released on Antiquated Future Records. Listen on Bandcamp.

Briana Marela's Speak From Your Heart is an amazingly lush album that bridges genres. Gorgeously layered vocals mix with synths and a host of other instruments, creating a sprawling and hypnotizing soundscape. For fans of Colleen, Windy & Carl, and Cock & Swan.

Beautiful packing with digital download code. Listen on Bandcamp. The album before her Jagjaguwar debut All Around Us.

The debut full-length from Seattle's Hoop. Caitlin Roberts (Autococoon), Pamela Santiago (Gar Pal), Leena Joshi (Sick Sad World), and Inge Chiles (Ings) combine to make arresting, emotionally complex dream-pop. Guest vocals from Briana Marela and Allyson Foster (Hunger Cloud Darkening) put this album into the territory of instant classic.
