Music

Out this week! The debut album from Olympia duo The Overcasts, a collaboration between Jen Grady (of You Are Plural, Emily Jane White) and Eric Sarai. Introspective, dreamy, pulsing, a little sweet and a little off-kilter, The Overcasts nod back to the moodier side of '80s and '90s 4AD bands (This Mortal Coil, His Name is Alive) and combines it with the coziness of Olympia indie music.

Available on cassette and CD. Cassettes are a hand-numbered edition of 50. Cover art by Diana Al-Hadid.

Listen on Bandcamp.

Before her Polyvinyl pop gem, Quit The Curse, there was Party: the Beach Boys' Party-inspired solo debut from Anna Burch (Failed Flowers, Frontier Ruckus).

Released on Life Like.

In a catalog rich with psych-folk gems, Patina is one of Appalachian Yard Art's best. Strange and playful, the album traverses a broad sonic and emotional range. Highly recommended.

Appalachian Yard Art- Copper

Anyone who's followed Antiquated Future knows we love weirdo spoken word music. From Tapestry to Aboriginal Flowers to Hecka Ar, we've carried and released albums that push the bounds of music and poetry since the get-go. That's why we're thrilled to carry the new release from Emily Roll that continues the wild, graphic word-art that she's been until-now making under the name Haunted.

Released on Life Like.

Led by songwriter and sound-experimenter Tucker Theodore, Buffalo Voice's Pilgrim Takes His Spill is a series of ten perfectly destroyed anthems. Psych-sludge classic rock garage-pop from another universe.

Buffalo Voice- Pilgrim Takes His Spill

The latest dose of avant-pop from Little Angry, the solo project of Evan Hashi (Flying Circles, Shaggy Sample). Place & Care is the work of an ace songwriter and tireless experimenter, traveling from minimalist meditations to bass-heavy krautrock psychedelia with ease.

Temporary Sale! + Last Two Copies!

Portland, Oregon’s The Ocean Floor always astounds me. Singer Lane Barrington (Hosannas, Machinedrum) has a voice like no other, the jazzy structures are something you don’t hear much in indie folk, and the songs are written more like playful vignettes than any kind of typical verse-chorus-verse or story-song arrangement.

The album comes on beautiful moldavite-colored vinyl and features gorgeous art from children’s book artist/cartoonist Johanna Wright.

The Ocean Floor- Whats On?

The latest project of Madeline Johnston of Sister Grotto. Together with collaborator Tucker Theodore, Midwife creates dreamy songs that confront raw emotions, haunted soundscapes that get stuck in your head. Following their acclaimed 2017 debut Like Author, Like Daughter, their new Prayer Hands EP delves further, bringing more reverb-drenched anthems of loss.

Released on Antiquated Future Records. Listen on Bandcamp.

Last copy! An Olympia classic. This 1999 Yoyo Recordings studio compilation has 22 songs that give a snapshot of the scene from that era. The Microphones, Mirah, C Average, The Need, IQU, and many more.

The Microphones- Wake Me Up

Temporary sale! Power-pop like you've never heard it before. Cello, wurlitzer electric piano, drums, and lush harmonies combine to make uniquely beautiful and addicting songs.
